Being good enough at something to make a living at it is always a challenge
A recent article on DEV [DEV Community is a community of 1,164,769 amazing developers], entitled, "Unpopular Opinion: It’s harder than ever to be a good software engineer," is about what adds value when it comes to software engineering.
Many of the points made can be applied to virtually any profession. For instance, journalism. Journalists also have to write; instead of writing code they're writing articles. But being a good journalist, that is good enough to make a living doing it, is not so easy.
